The penalty point system will be used as part of the reward system (see
section on rewards).
Attendance Policy
All DMS students are expected to
attend school on a daily basis. Students
may have up to five (5) days per school year excused with a parent note. These are to be used for sickness, funerals
of immediate family members, approved educational activities, or
emergencies. If a doctor, dentist,
orthodontist, court, or other appointment causes an absence, the student should
bring a note from that appointment.
Doctors’ notes will not be accepted if the student did not actually go
to the doctor. After five (5) parent
notes, doctors’ notes will be required for an absence to be excused. Three unexcused tardies
will result in one (1) unexcused absence.
Anyone with five (5) or more unexcused absences will be reported to the
attendance supervisor and further action will be taken.
Reward System
Any student who does not receive a
penalty point and does not have many absences will be periodically
rewarded. Students who are not eligible
